Welcome to the Ion Newsletter.
Stop Press... Technical Developments
As part of our commitment to protection the environment, Ion are currently changing the chemicals used to clean and disinfect your water systems from Sodium Hypochlorite (SH) to Hydrogen Silver Peroxide (HSP).
SH is a salt based product that must be neutralised to ensure no adverse effect on water systems and the environment. HSP does not require neutralisation therefore has no adverse effect on systems or the environment.
To find out more about this new specification and how the associated new process will benefit you water treatment please call.

From Grant McFarlane, Action for Children Fundraiser
Happy Christmas to you! I had the chance to visit Stoneside yesterday to see how the place has changed and WHAT A TRANSFORMATION!
The difference is quite incredible and we are so grateful for all the hard work that everyone has put in to making this happen, particularly you in really driving the refurbishment forward. I know you and several others went above and beyond last week, working late into the night to make sure things we're done. Thank you so much.
Stoneside is unrecognisable to what it was just a year ago and your contribution has been vital in this. The children and young people currently attending the project will obviously benefit first, but we do hope that have the increased capacity will provide an opportunity to expand the service and help more vulnerable children and young people in the near future.
We are exploring dates early in the New Year where we can hold an official launch to celebrate the completion of the refurbishment work. Council leader Stephen Purcell opened the project originally, so we would like to invite him back along with other notable guests to see at first hand the recent improvements to the facility. This would also give us the chance to say thank you to all the individuals and companies who have been so generous in their support for the project.
I will call you soon to discuss this further, but in the meantime thank you so much once again. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.
Regards,
Grant McFarlane

Sportsmatch
Following our sponsorship of Campsie Minerva Football Club, Ion
are pleased to learn the clubs’ application for SPORTSMATCH
funding has been successful.
SPORTSMATCH, is a Scottish Executive funded scheme, managed by sportscotland and set up to encourage the business communities to
sponsor sport at grass roots level.
SPORTSMATCH can act as an incentive by offering to match sponsorships – like Ion’s – on a
£ for £ basis and a SPORTSMATCH award can mean:
• New projects can get started
• Existing projects can be improved
Well done Campsie Minerva – go for it !

CHAS Accreditation
Ion has achieved accreditation within the Contractors Health and safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with and sound management of, current basic Health and Safety Legislation.
Ion are committed to Customer Satisfaction through the provision of our services in a safe and skilled manner and all in accordance with the Legionnaires Disease Approve Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 Requirements and Guidelines 2001 and all other Health and Safety Legislation.
Ion has a Duty of Care to ensure our Employees and Client are fully aware of their responsibilities to the HSE Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 Legionnaires’ Disease January 2001, HSWA 1974 and COSHH 2004.”

Duty of Care...
Because of the Approved Codes of Practice January 2001 - ACOPs (L8) the Responsible Person for any premises has to ensure all ACOP (L8) requirements are complied with – sooner rather than later. The emphasis and significance is not only what Ion can do for you but what the requirements say should be done. As with all things budgets have to be measured to include for those requirements but not all budgets can allow for the works being done now and therefore sometimes the task is missed or forgotten.
To that end Ion have just completed a survey of all contracts by reviewing what we do for our customers and, (what is equally important), what our customers don’t do but what is required.
Ion found the water Risk Assessments in a considerable number if premises to be overdue. This has now been highlighted to the client – the Responsible Person – who has now taken the necessary steps to comply. Whether Ion carry our the work or not we have a Duty of Care to our customer.
Ion Duty of Care does not stop at Risk Assessments. We shall continue to advise and recommend what ACOP (L8) requirements are relevant and best suit our customers needs. In order to assist our customers awareness of some descriptions, Ion have included a
‘Definitions’ within this web site. Just click onto the link shown.

Partnerships
Ion make every endeavour to work as ‘partners’ with our customers. In that context we look to develop a long term ‘partnership in business’ relationship by working together to create a flexible and cost effective approach for the delivery of a varied range of services to meet the customer’s specific needs and requirements.
